CEM Partners with Texas Instruments to Launch the AFD-80 Arc Fault Detector
During the 2025 Munich Shanghai Electronics Show, Shenzhen CEM Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CEM") and the global semiconductor giant Texas Instruments (TI) jointly launched the new generation AFD-80 single-channel arc fault detector, which immediately became the focus of the exhibition upon its debut. The booth was crowded with visitors, and technical experts, system integrators, and media representatives from the global photovoltaic industry stopped to experience it, giving high praise to the product's innovative performance and intelligent design. Several attending experts stated that the launch of the AFD-80 marks the entry of photovoltaic safety detection technology into a new era of "Edge AI + High Precision", providing forward-looking solutions for industry pain points.
1. Focusing on photovoltaic safety, the AFD-80 achieves a breakthrough in detection technology.
Arc faults are one of the core causes of fire hazards in photovoltaic systems. Traditional detection methods rely on manual parameter adjustment, are easily affected by noise interference, and are difficult to adapt to complex scenarios. The AFD-80 detector developed by CEM based on the TI TMS320F28P55x AI chip deeply integrates edge AI computing capabilities, and through the patented arc detection model and neural network algorithm, achieves three major technological upgrades:
🔷 Intelligent noise adaptation: Based on the TI TMS320F28P55x edge AI NPU, it features high-dimensional nonlinear characteristics, accurately extracting arc fault signals from data with strong noise adaptability.
🔷 Intelligent scenario adaptation: Based on a neural network model, the AFD-80 can continuously train, iterate, and learn new characteristic signals, offering strong adaptability to various scenarios.
🔷 Intelligent AI self-evolution: With a built-in 4G module, data can be uploaded to the cloud in real time, allowing feature data to be trained and evolved in the cloud, resulting in greater stability and accuracy.
TI C2000™ MCU empowers CEM to accelerate product intelligence
The core technology of the AFD-80 relies on the TI C2000™ series TMS320F28P55x chip, which integrates an edge AI neural processing unit (NPU) and provides CEM with powerful real-time control and computing support. This chip features 24 high-precision PWM channels and 39 ADC channels, helping CEM to reduce system costs while achieving millisecond-level response and a fault detection accuracy of over 99%, significantly enhancing the product's market competitiveness.
2. Deepening cooperation for 25 years, jointly expanding new energy and industrial digitalization.
Since establishing the partnership in 1998, CEM and TI have continuously deepened their technical collaboration. In the early stages, the two sides achieved breakthroughs in the fields of environmental testing and electrical instruments, and today the cooperation has expanded into new energy and industrial digitalization:
🔵 New Energy Technology: Based on the TI C2000™ platform, CEM has developed AI solutions such as the AFD-80, serving energy storage, charging stations, and photovoltaic safety monitoring.
🔵 Intelligent Instruments and Meters: TI analog chips and embedded technologies provide core support for CEM products such as infrared thermal imagers and PM2.5 detectors.
🔵 Industrial Upgrading: Through TI high-precision sensors and control chips, CEM has optimized the performance of industrial endoscopes, coating thickness gauges, and other equipment.
3. Future Outlook: Technological Innovation Drives Sustainable Energy Development.
CEM stated that in the future, it will continue to leverage the long-term cooperation advantages with TI, focusing on three major areas: photovoltaic safety, energy storage systems, and industrial digitalization, driving the intelligent and digital upgrade of instruments and meters. At the same time, both sides will deepen the contextual applications of edge AI, high-precision sensors, and other technologies, providing more innovative solutions for the safe, efficient, and flexible development of global energy infrastructure.
As a leading test and measurement instrument manufacturer in China, CEM has always placed technological innovation at its core. Through open collaboration and ecosystem co-building, CEM contributes to the global energy transition and the industrial intelligence process. The launch of the AFD-80 is not only a reflection of CEM's technological strength but also an important milestone in its mission to "make energy safer."
