The main job of a multifunction installation tester (MFT) is to check the electrical safety of fixed wiring—like the circuits in homes, offices, or factories—either before the power is turned on or after changes have been made. It makes sure the wiring won’t cause electric shocks, fires, or damage to equipment.

The DT-6650 is a rugged, portable multifunction installation tester (MFT) that meets international safety standard IEC 60364. Electricians and inspection engineers use it mainly to check that electrical installations are safe and working properly.

It combines several separate testing devices into one tool, helping make sure that wiring follows the rules and regulations.

For example, the tester checks whether the wiring is in good condition, prevents the risk of electric shocks, and confirms that systems follow standards like IEC 60364. It runs tests for insulation, loop impedance, RCDs (safety switches), continuity, voltage, and phase rotation.

Safety:
IEC61010-1 CAT II 1500V / CAT III 600V
UL, CSA, and TÜV listed for maximum safety and global compliance

 Applications:

-- home or commercial building
     the tester checks the electrical installation.
-- Initial verification
     Initial check of new electrical systems before they are used.
-- Routine safety checks
      for example, every 5 to 10 years or when a new tenant moves in.
-- Troubleshooting problems
     such as an RCD that keeps tripping for no obvious reason or power that cuts out randomly.
-- Creating safety reports / Certification
    save the test results and can send them to computer software, which then produces official Electrical Installation  Condition Reports (EICRs).
-- EV charging test
     combined with EVSE-200,  make test of functions and safety for EV charging station

standard and requirements of IEC 60364,  IEC/EN 61557

International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC 60364), specifies the requirements for fixed electrical installations in buildings.

The European standard EN 61557 sets the requirements for different tests used to check electrical installations.

The national equivalent standards of Europe can be found in below table.

requirements of IEC 60364.6.61
It states that verification of the installation shall be carried out in the following sequence:

  1. Visual inspection
  2. Testing of the following:
    • Continuity of protective conductors;
    • Insulation resistance;
    • Protection by separation of circuits;
    • Floor and wall resistance;
    • Automatic disconnection of supply;
    • Polarity;
    • Functional performance;

Main functions of CEM MFT

CEM MFT DT-6650 addresses these requirements, and cover following functions

Continuity ( low ohm test )
check that all grounding wires and bonding conductors are fully intact and have very low resistance, ensuring a safe path  for fault currents.

insulation resistance (High-Ohms)
This test sends a high DC voltage (250V, 500V, or 1000V) through the insulation to make sure the material between live wires and ground hasn't broken down or deteriorated.

loop and line impedance
This test measures the total resistance in the path that a ground fault current would follow. It's a critical check to make sure that if a fault occurs, the resulting current will be strong enough to trip the circuit breaker or blow the fuse quickly enough to be safe.

earth resistance measurement
This test measures the actual resistance of the ground rod (earth electrode) itself, ensuring it provides a low-resistance path to the earth.

RCD performance testing  (Residual Current Devices)
RCDs are safety devices often installed for extra protection,  Measures trip time , trip current and tripping level (ramp test)   (DT-6650 supports only RCD type AC;   DT-6653 supports RCD type AC, A, B, S)

phase sequence
shows whether the phases in a three-phase system are connected in the correct order.

voltage and frequence
measure the incoming supply voltage and the line frequency to verify that the power supply conditions are correct and within expected ranges.

Prospective Fault Current (PFC)
&
  Prospective Short Circuit Current (PSC)      electrical tests conducted at the origin of an installation to determine the maximum current flowing during a fault PSC measures line-to-neutral (or line-to-line) short circuits, while PFC (often specifically PFEC) measures line-to-earth faults.
