CEM DT-9989 Industrial multimeter oscilloscope / scope meter

CEM DT-9989 is handheld oscilloscope with multimeter functions

Combine the precise measurement capabilities of a multimeter—such as resistance, capacitance, continuity, and accurate voltage/current readings—with the visual, real-time signal analysis of an oscilloscope, including waveform shape, frequency, noise, and transient events, into a single portable device.

A combined DMM and oscilloscope is ideal for field service, automotive repair, power electronics troubleshooting, and education—any situation where you need both waveform visualization and precise measurements in one portable device.

While it doesn’t replace a benchtop oscilloscope for high-frequency or advanced design work, it removes the need to carry two separate tools for many everyday diagnostic tasks.

Safety:

IEC61010-1 CAT IV 600V / CAT III 1000V
UL, CSA, and TÜV listed for maximum safety and global compliance

Applications:

-- Troubleshooting sensor signals -- use the oscilloscope to see noise, and the DMM to measure the exact voltage offset)

--  Power supply testing -- check ripple on the oscilloscope and measure accurate output voltage with the DMM)

-- Automotive diagnostics -- view CAN bus waveforms on the oscilloscope while monitoring battery voltage with the DMM)

Multimeter

  • True RMS AC/DC voltage (up to 1000V)
  • AC/DC current (mA to 10A)
  • Resistance (ohm), continuity with buzzer
  • Diode test, capacitance, temperature, etc.

Oscilloscope

  • 1 input channel
  • Multi-screen display for channel waveform and FFT waveform
  • Bandwidth: 10MHz
  • Sampling rate: 500Sps—50 Msa/s
  • Triggering (rising edge, falling edge.)
  • Waveform storage
  • automatic measurements (Vpp, frequency, rise time)

combined benefits

  • Simultaneous view – see the waveform on the oscilloscope while the DMM displays an accurate RMS or DC value at the same time.
  • Record mode – log voltage over minutes or hours, similar to a trend chart on a DMM.
  • Cursor-linked measurements – measure voltage between two points on a waveform, with the DMM confirming the exact values.
  • Safety – CAT III / CAT IV rated models can be safely used on mains electrical systems.

faster troubleshooting sensor signals

trying to fix or understand sensor signals , you need to both see the signal shape and measure it accurately

A regular digital multimeter (DMM) only shows the average or RMS value of a signal. Many modern sensors do not output a steady DC voltage; instead, they produce:

  • PWM signals(Signals that switch on and off quickly)
  • Variable frequency signals(Signals that change frequency e.g., wheel speed sensors)
  • Digital protocols(e.g., Hall effect sensors)
  • Low-amplitude signals buried in noise (Very small signals that can be hard to see because of electrical noise)

automotive diagnostics

capable of measuring everything from slow-moving temperature sensors to high-speed CAN bus data.

  • Use Case: Diagnosing a Cranking No-Start Condition
  • Use Case: Diagnosing Ignition System (Primary & Secondary)
  • Use Case: Diagnosing Fuel Pump Current Ramping
  • Use Case: CAN Bus Diagnostics (High-Speed)
  • Use Case: Wheel Speed Sensor (Active or Passive)
  • Use Case: Alternator Ripple Test

and precise electrical measurement

TrendCapture graphically display
TrendCapture shows you a quick graph of your logged data, so you can easily spot any issues.

Helps capture intermittent faults, analyze signal quality, and monitor trends over time without a separate recorder

True RMS,  high accuracy
accurately measures AC voltage/current regardless of waveform shape / non-linear loads.
DCV basic accuracy 0.025%.

Noise filtering capability , Low Pass filter
low pass filter mode which filters out high frequency noise created by a variable frequency drives (VFD)  and gives you an accurate reading

low ohm measurement
Useful for measuring and comparing differences in motor winding resistance or contact resistance.

mV (millivolt) measurement
practical for measuring small signals,  testing electronic components

Logging function
The device has a built-in logging feature with plenty of memory,

You can look at the data as a graph directly on the device.

wireless connection,  data share (PC / App)

Technicians can monitor readings remotely, which is especially useful when panels must be closed to operate or are in hazardous areas .
