CEM DT-6508H is a basic multifunction installation tester (MFT)

Due to new rugged and portable design, it is suitable for installation electricians,  who needs quick installation testing & troubleshooting.

A Multifunction Installation Tester (MFT) is a portable and rugged test instrument used mainly by electricians and electrical inspectors to check the safety, performance, and compliance of electrical installations.

Aside from some essential MFT functions, like Continuity, Insulation Resistance, Loop Impedance, RCD and Phase Sequence.  CEM DT-6508H also supports low-current resistance measurement.

Safety:
IEC61010-1 CAT IV 300V / CAT III 600V safety rating
CE, UL, CSA, and TÜV listed for maximum safety and global compliance

Applications:
-- home or commercial building,
the tester checks the electrical installation.
-- Routine safety checks
for example, every 5 to 10 years or when a new tenant moves in.
-- Troubleshooting problems
such as an RCD that keeps tripping for no obvious reason or power that cuts out randomly.

standard and requirements of IEC 60364,  IEC/EN 61557

International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC 60364), specifies the requirements for fixed electrical installations in buildings.

The European standard EN 61557 sets the requirements for different tests used to check electrical installations.

The national equivalent standards of Europe can be found in below table. e.g

Automatic RCD measurement

RCD Testing covers type AC, A, B.   Electricians can measures trip time (tA), trip current (IA), touch

voltage (UB) and protective conductor resistance (RE).  One highlight is Automatic RCD Measurement,  which automatic measurement of the RCD tripping time tA, tripping current IA, touch voltage UB and earth resistance RE. This simplifies the on-site operation.

Main functions of CEM MFT

Continuity ( low ohm test )

check that all grounding wires and bonding conductors are fully intact and have very low resistance, ensuring a safe path  for fault currents.  Uses a ≥200mA test current (at R<2Ω) to verify the integrity of protective conductors

insulation resistance (High-Ohms)

This test sends a high DC voltage (250V, 500V, or 1000V) through the insulation to make sure the material between live wires and ground hasn't broken down or deteriorated.

loop and line impedance

This test measures the total resistance in the path that a ground fault current would follow. It's a critical check to make  sure that if a fault occurs, the resulting current will be strong enough to trip the circuit breaker or blow the fuse quickly enough to be safe.

RCD performance testing  (Residual Current Devices)

RCDs are safety devices often installed for extra protection.  Supports AC-type, A-type and B-type RCDs;       measures trip time (tA), trip current (IA), touch voltage (UB) and protective conductor resistance (RE). Features an RCD Auto Test mode that completes a full test sequence with one key and gives a"Good" or "Bad" Pass/fail indication

 phase sequence

shows whether the phases in a three-phase system are connected in the correct order.

 voltage and frequence

measure the incoming supply voltage and the line frequency to verify that the power supply conditions are correct and within expected ranges.

 Low-Current Resistance

A Low-Current Resistance (LCR) test measures very small electrical resistances, typically in the milliohm (mΩ) range. It is used to check whether a conductor, connection, contact, or joint has abnormally high resistance. And output Precise resistance value .    Offers a low-resistance measurement mode with a <8mA test current, suitable for applications where large current stimulation is undesirable (e.g., pyrotechnic devices, sensitive equipment circuits)
